How to create a new Change Request for EIS systems in ServiceNow.
Triggers:
- API to be deployed in iHub PROD (SIS & HR technical teams)
- Data Power policy to be deployed in PROD (SIS & HR technical teams)
- API portal or gateway component deployed to UAT or PROD (EIS operations)
- Operations infrastructure (EIS operations)

Create a New Change
Navigate to ServiceNow at https://berkeley.service-now.com
Scroll down the left hand side to the “Change” section.
Click on “Create New.”
Fill out main section
Click on “Normal” as the type of change required
Select “Assess” as the Status
Select “Software” as the Category
Select the appropriate Priority level
Select “Low” as the Risk
Select the appropriate Impact level
Select “None” as the Outage
For the Assignment group, enter “IST - EIS” (note the spaces surrounding the hyphen)
Select “IST - EIS Operations” from the resulting list
In the Short description:

for API deployments, include the version, API name, environment, JIRA (and UAT deployment date if deploying into PROD)

for Data Power deployments, include the API name, environment, and a brief description of the new or changed policy
Fill out planning section
In Justification, enter “bug fix,” “new functionality,” or some other type of change, followed by a brief description
In Implementation plan, enter “rolling restart”
It is very important that your entry in Risk and impact analysis is complete and detailed:
Include a list of API clients who would be affected if something were to go wrong with the deployment(For API deployments, include a list of other APIs sharing the same container)
In Backout plan, enter “current application available to roll-back”
In Test plan, enter “review logs and monitor systems”
Fill out schedule section
In Requested by date, enter the date for the Monday before the change is to be reviewed at a CMR meeting
In Planned start date, enter the date after the CMR meeting negotiated as a lead time with EIS
In Planned end date, enter the same date as above
Finish
At the bottom of the screen click on “Save”
Remember to copy the change request Number and refer to it in your JIRA issue
